I am doing a school project on what kind of field hockey stick will hit farther wooden or composite. Which one do you think will and why. Where can I find more info on this topic?

If you want to test sticks, try to borrow a few from friends.  take them out to a field, preferably artificial turf, and set up on the 50 yard line.  Get a parent or a friend to stand on the goal line with a stop watch.  take 5 hits with each stick and time how long it takes for the ball to get to the goalline.  Take your best two times and average them.  This is an attempt to take out "how good a hit did i have" from how well did the stick hit.

When you compare sticks, I would expect you would find that the more expensive sticks, which generally have much more carbon fiber, will be stiffer and so will transfer more of your "swing energy" to the ball and so the ball will get there more quickly.  wood sticks should be about on a par with the cheaper comnposites, which are mostly fiberglass.

Let me know how it goes.

(The reason that almost all top players now use composite is because of the extra power they get in the hit).
